Collection: ANZAC Square Collection
ANZAC Square, located in the heart of Brisbane, is a commemorative site dedicated to the memory of Australian and New Zealand service members who served and died in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions. Officially opened on Armistice Day, 11 November 1930, the square was designed as a dignified place for reflection and remembrance, featuring neoclassical architecture and landscaped gardens. At its centre stands the Shrine of Remembrance, which houses the Eternal Flame—a symbol of perpetual honour burning within a bronze urn—to represent the undying gratitude owed to those who served. Today, ANZAC Square remains one of Queensland’s most significant memorial spaces, hosting annual ceremonies such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day in tribute to the nation’s soldiers and their enduring legacy.
