Collection: The Normanby Hotel: Red Hill
The Normanby Hotel, constructed in 1890, replaced an earlier hotel established on the site in 1872. Built for publican Elizabeth Sophia Burton and designed by architect John B. Nicholson, it occupies a prominent position at Red Hill’s Fiveways. Extended in 1917, the hotel has long served as a social and cultural landmark, reflecting Brisbane’s late nineteenth-century growth.
