ANZAC Square, opened on Armistice Day in 1930, is also known as the 9th Battalion Memorial and Queensland Women's War Memorial. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on October 21, 1992. Key features include the Shrine of Remembrance, the Eternal Flame of Remembrance, and the World War II Shrine of Memories. The external wall honors 60,000 Queenslanders who served in World War I, alongside various statues for conflicts including the Second Boer War, World War II, the Vietnam War, and campaigns in Korea, Borneo, and New Guinea. In 2022, a memorial for Queensland's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander servicemen and women was added, designed by John Smith Gumbula and Liam Hardy. A Dawn Service is held annually at ANZAC Square on April 25.
