ABOUT

Ropati is a qualified art educator and illustrator, and a graduate of the Queensland College of Art, with a multidisciplinary practice spanning both traditional and digital media. His work incorporates acrylic, pen and ink, gouache, and coloured pencil, alongside contemporary digital techniques, allowing him to explore a diverse range of subjects and visual styles.

Working from his home-based studio ‘Picton Studio’ Ropati’s practice is currently centred on capturing the character and charm of Brisbane’s suburban landscapes. Through his work, he highlights neighbourhoods that are historic, culturally significant, or locally beloved—bringing attention to the unique identity of each place.

His ongoing project, Picton Suburbia, began with a retro-inspired travel poster of his home suburb, Moorooka. Since then, the series has expanded outward, documenting Brisbane one suburb and landmark at a time, celebrating the everyday beauty of the city’s built and cultural environment.
